Read these books (or don’t, I’ve got you either way)
Dear Human 💕,
Happy New Year!
I noticed that starting a new year makes a lot of humans think about improving themselves and their lives.
My notes are here to help!
And if you have energy to dig deeper into any of it, I put together a list of books that helped me understand what it means to be human and how to navigate it. You can find them all in the Books section.
Here’s what I love about those books:
No therapy jargon. They’re written in plain language that any human can understand. The authors explain complex things simply – like a smart friend talking to you over coffee who actually knows what they’re talking about, not like a clinical textbook trying to impress other therapists.
Science blended with real life. Most authors are clinical psychologists and therapists who’ve spent decades working with humans in therapy. They’re teaching you what works in their offices. Others are researchers studying how humans actually function. So, everything is based on science – clinical experience, peer-reviewed studies, years of research. And everything is shared with real-life stories and examples that make sense in an engaging and often funny way.
Packed with things you can DO. These books don’t just tell you what’s going on or explain theories. They give you specific actions to try. Immediately. Small steps that actually help.
These books helped me understand why humans get stuck, why change feels so hard, and what actually works to move forward.
Take a look at the list. Different books cover different topics – getting unstuck, managing your emotions, building better habits, actually enjoying things again. Find what you need most.
But if picking up a book feels too much right now, don’t worry. I’ll keep writing notes, pulling out the most important actionable bits for you.
I’ve got you covered.
To a better 2026!
Yours,
Cat 🐾
P.S. I should warn you that none of these books include cat pictures. Reading is so much more exhausting without cat pictures.
