What is going on right now?

Dear Human 💕,

You look like you don’t know what to make out of this moment. Don’t Panic!

I usually start with examining the very moment. I pause and I ask myself what is going on right now?

What’s going on in your mind, your body and around you?

  • Observe your thoughts and feelings.
  • Observe your physical sensations.
  • Observe what you were doing, the space you’re in, and the other humans around you.

Don’t react.
Don’t get carried away.
Don’t try to change anything.
Don’t try to suppress anything.
Try not to judge, if it’s good or bad.

Just observe everything as it is. And it is whatever it is .

Now, get curious. Examine and question your thoughts and feelings.

Is what you’re thinking really true? Check for thinking errors.

Does the intensity of my feelings match the situation?

Then, you can decide how you want to respond.

P.S. Therapists call being fully in the moment and observing without judgment Mindfulness. Mindfulness is a core component of DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) and is also used in some forms of CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy).
