NO!! “Yes, sure.”
Dear Human 💕,
Did you really say “Yes, sure” when that human asked you to drive them to the airport at 5 AM?
You hate getting up that early. And you hate driving to the airport.
I heard the scream you didn’t let out. NO!!
You clearly didn’t want to do it. But before you even realized what was happening, the “Yes, sure” slipped out. It’s a reflex. You want to be a good human. You don’t want to disappoint them or make things inconvenient. Meow.
But here is a secret: you do not have to answer immediately.
Next time you feel that internal scream, try the “Cat Pause.” Instead of an automatic yes, say:
“Let me check my schedule and get back to you,”
or simply,
“I need to think about it.”
Use the pause to decide, not just react. Are you saying yes because you actually want to? Or because you feel you should?
They can take the bus or call a ride. It might not be as easy for them, but it does not make you a bad human if you don’t want to lose your sleep and stress yourself out.
Whenever you really want to do something, say “Yes, sure.” But if it’s just an expectation, say “NO.” Remember, Your NO protects your YES. Your sleep counts too.
Please don’t wake me up tomorrow morning, and drive safe.
Yours,
Cat 🐾
P.S. This works for more than just airport rides. Before you say yes to anything, take the pause. Ask yourself: why? You can decide.
