Wow! That’s awesome!

Dear Human 💕,

You’ve had that same crease between your eyebrows for days, the one you get when you don’t seem to be able to figure out a problem. All you can see is you and the problem.

Here’s a trick to put things into perspective. Shrink yourself. Let your mind be blown by something impressive that’s so much bigger than you that it makes you feel tiny in comparison.

Awe is that feeling you get when you see or think about something so big, beautiful, or incredible that it blows your mind. It’s like your brain takes a giant gasp because it just witnessed something totally magical. It can give you goosebumps. I always get big eyes, freeze and sometimes even chatter.

Looking at the vastness of the Grand Canyon

Standing up close to those roaring waterfalls in Iceland

Being at that live show immersed in the music with those mesmerizing visuals

Watching me – or those human acrobats at Cirque Du Soleil – defying the laws of physics

All those things that make you say Wow! That’s AWE-some! or just make your jaw drop.

All the sudden, you feel tiny next to something much larger. Your body and your mind calm down. You don’t feel that important anymore. You’re a tiny human in a vast universe. Awe can make you feel like you are a part of something bigger. And somehow it makes you a bit kinder too.

Now, going back to your problem: when you feel smaller, your problems will feel smaller too.

So, find some awe to put your problem into perspective and let that crease between your eybrows go away.

I know you’ll figure it out.

Yours,
Cat 🐾

P.S. You don’t have to venture out to experience awe, in a pinch watching awe-inspiring videos will work too. Or an amazing song.
