Is that helpful?

Dear Human 💕,

Sometimes I really wonder “What did you do THAT for?”

Seriously, before you react to anything, ask yourself “Is that helpful?

Is it helpful,

  • that you yell at me, when I jump onto the kitchen counter?
  • that you’re calling yourself names and beating yourself up over a mistake you made?
  • that you avoid talking to other humans, when you don’t feel good about yourself?
  • that you stop doing the things you used to enjoy, because you’re too depressed?
  • that you’re working late and on the weekend, and you don’t spend time with your favorite humans or me, your favorite cat.
  • that you eat a pint of peanut butter cups ice cream to make you feel better?

Will THAT reaction get you what you need or want? If not, what will?

If you’re feeling down, maybe skip the ice cream and go on one of your walks. Maybe listen to some of that industrial music you seem to like. Maybe chase some squirrels.

Yours,
Cat 🐾

P.S. I have to admit, yelling at me when I jump on the kitchen counter, keeps me from jumping up there, when you can see it. But as you might have guessed by the paw prints on the stove top glass, I still jump up there at night, when you can‘t see me.
